中文摘要:依据中国税收调查数据与上市公司供应链数据，考量客户企业ESG表现对供应商技术创新的影响及其作用机制。结果显示：客户企业ESG表现从信息溢出、交易成本与压力效应三个方面显著促进了供应商专利申请数量。异质性分析显示，该效应在大企业、非国有企业以及高融资约束企业更为显著。鉴于此，应进一步鼓励企业加强ESG建设，构造高效供应链网络，激发供应链上游企业技术创新，助力供应商高质量发展。

Customer Firms’ ESG Performance and Suppliers’Technological Innovation: A Perspective of Vertical Linkages within the Industrial Chain

Abstract:Based on Chinese tax survey data and supply chain data of listed companies, this study empirically examines the impact of customer firms’ ESG performance on their suppliers’ technological innovation and the pathways through which this occurs. The research finds that customer firms’ ESG performance significantly promotes suppliers’ patent applications through three mechanisms: information spillover, transaction cost reduction, and pressure effects. Heterogeneity analysis indicates that this effect is more pronounced in large enterprises, non-state-owned enterprises, and firms with high financing constraints. In light of these findings, companies should be further encouraged to enhance ESG initiatives, build efficient supply chain networks, stimulate technological innovation among upstream supply chain enterprises, and support suppliers in achieving high-quality development.
